Wood is, and will remain, the heart and soul of sauna construction. The wood we most frequently use for the construction of our products is Finnish pine, which is slow growing in the rough climate of the Scandinavian north. Its high fibre density makes it resistant to high temperatures and humidity fluctuations, and even decades later it continues to emit its distinctive pine fragrance.
When it comes to wood, we are very selective. Only the relatively small, practically knot-free part of the pine comes into question for use in our sauna production, provided it is evenly coloured. We may be demanding, but we are also loyal, and have sourced our wood from the same supplier in Finland ever since our company was founded. The supplier’s harvest is PEFC-certified, as part of a worldwide programme aimed at improving forest use and management.
