Every new sauna begins with the choice between using wood panelling or a solid construction. Wood panelling (vertical or horizontal) is used primarily in cases where a sauna is to be integrated into an existing space and the cabin will consist of a multilayer, ultra-energy-saving wall construction. The design possibilities are almost endless with regard to layout, choice of materials for the exterior and configuration of the interior.
The solid wood «cabin-style» structure is primarily suitable for outdoor use and follows the tradition of Finnish sauna construction. It is especially popular with lovers of a rustic and traditional ambience. If this sauna type is nevertheless planned for indoor use, it should be freestanding and offer sufficient space for air circulation.
